The collection, recycling and disposal of solid waste is an important process that must operate with minimal disruption. Community members share this responsibility, along with our trash collection and depository service partners, to help protect the environment and maintain the beauty of our community.

Trash Collection
Valley Waste Service, Inc. has been awarded a 3-year contract to provide residential solid waste disposal services to The Township of Hopewell. The contract is effective January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2022. Service under this contract is mandatory for all residents of single family dwellings, duplexes, triplexes and apartment buildings with four units or less.
Valley Waste is a local, family-owned company which has been proudly serving area residents for many years. The Customer Service Department is available Monday through Friday 8am – 4:30pm. Hopewell Township Depository
The Hopewell Township Depository is available to township residents for the disposal of yard waste, construction materials and other approved waste materials. Residents are not permitted to place any construction materials in their normal garbage pick-up.
The depository opens early in April each year through the first Saturday in December. No appointment is needed.
To access the depository, residents are required to obtain a badge (photo identification card) each year. Depository badges can be obtained at the municipal building during regular business hours (Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, closed for lunch 12:00-1:00, except on Holidays). Senior badges do not expire. and therefore do not need to be renewed.
The mandatory annual fee for a non-senior resident badge is $20. This card must be renewed at the beginning of each calendar year and must be presented at the depository gate each time a resident enters the depository. Residents 65 years of age or older are exempt from the $20 annual fee, but must obtain a one-time photo identification card which will reflect their exemption. This card does not require annual renewal.
Depository Rules & Regulations
No person will be permitted to enter the depository without a township photo identification card, and the township retains the right to suspend, terminate or revoke depository privileges at any time.
- Stop at the attendant’s booth before entering the depository.
- Speed limit on premises is 5mph. Please adhere to all posted signs.
- No commercial vehicles permitted.
- No paint, tires, batteries or flammable liquids.
- No refrigerators, electronics and air conditioners will be accepted.
- Concrete products, dirt and gravel: Will be accepted.
- Compost: grass, shrubs, bushes and tree branches up to 4 inches in diameter are accepted free of charge.
- Logs: Up to 10 inches in diameter, cut to maximum of four feet length will be accepted.
- Plastic bags are not permitted and must be emptied and taken from the premises.
Your cooperation and effort to maintain a clean site is appreciated.

Contractor materials brought to the Hopewell Township Depository by contractors will incur additional charges.

Recycling
Hopewell Township Recycles! Recyclable materials are collected curbside on alternate weeks depending on your location and according to the township’s Garbage and Recycling Calendar. Your participation in the recycling program is mandatory by township ordinance and Department of Environmental Protection regulations. Recycle bins are available at the Hopewell Township Municipal Building for $15 per bin. Each bin comes in a standard size of 16 inches (width) by 21 inches (height). Please refer to the Collection Guidelines for information on recycling.

Bagster®
The Bagster® (Dumpster in a Bag) holds up to 3,300 pounds of debris or waste. Waste Management charges a collection fee at the time of collection. For more information or to schedule your collection visit the Bagster website or call 877-789-BAGS (2247).
